Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Limited was formed in 1999 to consolidate the shareholding and overall management of the Trinidad and Tobago Methanol Company Limited (TTMC), the Caribbean Methanol Company Limited (CMC) and the Methanol IV Company Limited (MIV). This group produces and markets approximately 2.2 million metric tons of methanol per year and cumulatively, has over 25 years experience in the methanol business.

M5000
MHTL is presently constructing its
M5000 Mega Plant at its production complex in Point Lisas, Trinidad. The plant will produce 5,000 metric tons of methanol per day and, through the utilization of purge gas streams from the existing plants, would be capable of producing an additional 400 metric tons of methanol per day. The combined production of 5,400 metric tons will make M5000 the largest methanol plant in the world when commercial production commences in the second quarter of 2005.

The total production capacity of Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Ltd (MHTL) when M5000 comes on stream, will increase to approximately 4 million metric tons per annum.

The M5000 plant will be built between the existing CMC plant and the TTMC I plant. This close proximity to the existing plants on the MHTL production complex will allow MHTL to exploit the available operational synergies.
