Mehr Petrochemical Complex to be officially inaugurated

The Mehr Petrochemical Complex in Assaluyeh will be officially inaugurated on Thursday (June 25).

Iranian Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Nozari will attend the inaugural ceremony, the Mehr News Agency reported on Tuesday.

The complex started trial operation in May and it is currently working with full capacity.

The Mehr Petrochemical Complex is one of the National Petrochemical Company
s major projects implemented through a $230 million joint venture by the domestic private sector and foreign investors.

The complex has been built to produce high density polyethylene in Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Assaluyeh.

The high density polyethylene project of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone is the first investment by Japanese companies in Iran
s petrochemical industry in the past 24 years.

 Alliance Petrochemical Investment (Singaore)

Arya Sasol

Iran president to inaugurate four energy projects soon - minister

Iran's Petroleum Minister Gholamhoseyn Nowzari stated here on Monday [4 May] that President Mahmud Ahmadinezhad will inaugurate four national oil projects within the next weeks.
Talking to the Mehr News Agency he said the projects consist of
Aqajari gas-injection station, Iran-Alborz semi-floating [semi-submersible] oil platforms, Arya Sasol petrochemical complex, and Mehr petrochemical complex.

He added that the Iran-Alborz semi-floating [semi-submersible] oil platforms are a drilling operation in the Caspian Sea. Iran-Alborz is one of the most advanced semi-floating drilling rigs and is made by Iran Marine Industrial Co (SADRA).
The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) invested 400m dollars in semi-submersible rigs that can operate at water depths of up to 1,030 meters and drill down to 1,000 meters under the seabed, Nowzari added.
He went on to say that the rig weighs 14,000 tons without its attachments and 120 experts will work on it. It will facilitate exploration in deep waters in southern parts of the Caspian Sea.

About the Aqajari project, Nowzari said that a 500-km pipeline as been laid for transferring produced gas from South Pars gas fields to Aqajari oil fields.
"Aqajari oil field holds about 10 billion barrels of oil, which after gas injection is projected to produce an additional 2.1bn barrels in a 25-year timeframe," he stated.

"Arya Sasol petrochemical complex (Olefin 9) has been established between Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and South African group Sasol holding 50 per cent shares each," Nowzari noted.
Iran and South Africa have equally invested 1.35bn euros in the project, he said, adding that the Arya Sasol petrochemical complex is among the world's biggest polymer projects which products will be mainly exported.
When the complex comes on stream, 400,000 tons of ethylene, 90,000 tons of C3 cut, 300,000 tons of medium and heavy polyethylene, and 300,000 tons of light polyethylene will be added to Iran's petrochemical output.
Construction operations of the complex started in the Pars special economic energy zone (PSEEZ) in 2002 and the project has made over 97-percent progress so far, the official added.

The Mehr petrochemical complex, with over 231mn dollars worth of investment, will produce high density polyethylene in the Pars special economic energy zone.
The high density polyethylene project of the Pars special economic energy zone is the first investment by Japanese companies in Iran's petrochemical industry in the past 24 years.
The plan, which includes the construction of a 300-ton high density polyethylene plant, will be commissioned by the Mehr petrochemical complex to a consortium comprising Iran's RAMPCO and Japan's Mitsui companies.
