中国の翔鷺石油化学、PTA増設で中国最大メーカーへ

(上海発=特約)中国ではBP、三井化学、三菱化学など外国勢と中国の各メーカーによるPTAの新増設計画が次々に打ち出されているが、翔鷺石油化学(
Xiang Lu Petrochemical)がPTAの大増設を計画している。

 計画では福建省廈門の海滄投資区の既存プラントに隣接して120−150万トンのPTAを建設する。現在申請中だが、原料パラキシレンについては既に関係会社の騰龍アロマチックス(
Tenglong Aromatics)が同地で70−80万トン設備建設計画の承認を得ており、PTAについても認可が下りるとみている。2007年生産開始を予定している。

 翔鷺石油化学の
既存プラント能力は90万トンだが、既に120万トンへのデボトルネッキングの工事を行っており、年内に完成する。( to 1.5-mil mt/yr Apr 06)  この結果、2007年には翔鷺のPTA能力は240−270万トンとなり、中国で最強のPTAメーカーとなる。

 廈門海滄投資区は国務院に認可された大型投資区で、計画上の開発面積は100平方キロメートル。

 なお廈門海滄投資区の経済開発局では、併産品のベンゼン等(騰龍アロマチックスは原料をナフサとするか、輸入混合キシレンとするかを決めていないが)を利用した各種誘導品やその他の製品(PVC,EG)の計画をたて、投資家を募集している。

80,000 ton/year PA and 120,000 ton/year DOP Plastifier Project

The chemical industry in Haicang has planned to make PX project a leading role. Xiang Lu's arene project produces 800,000 tons of PX every year, which can provide
160,000 tons of OX per year, the feedstock for PA. At present, there is a shortage of OX material, so Xiamen enjoys the advantage to produce 60,000 to 80,000 tons of PA, which is the main material to produce DOP. Xiamen is able to build a DOP production facility able to compete with any other DOP supplier elsewhere in the world. In addition, the PA Project can also provide the material for Haicang to develop 60,000 to 100,000 tons of unsaturated resin per year.

The main construction of the project is to install
PA producing facilities with a capacity of 80,000 tons per year, the DOP plastifier producing facilities with a capacity of 120,000 tons per year, its auxiliary equipments and public utilities.

A large market now lies before the PA Project. With the growth of domestic consumption, much PA is imported, and the degree of self-sufficiency is only 70% while the import is still increasing.

Intex Plastics (Xiamen) Co., Ltd., consumes about 60,000 tons of DOP per year (including the Fuqing plant). 100, 000 tons of DOP is needed for the company to found the factory. It is estimated that the demand will reach 150,000 tons per year in Fujian market including the consumption in Fuzhou, Sanming and Quanzhou.

Xiamen Haicang enjoys the material advantage, scale advantage and market advantage to construct the 80,000 ton/year PA Project.

The main construction of the project is to install the
maleic anhydride producing facilities with a production of 40,000 tons per year, the 1,4-butanediol producing facilities with a capacity of 20,000 tons per year, its auxiliary equipments and public utilities.

MA can be used in the production of downstream-unsaturated resin (UP) and 1,4-butanediol, and to provide material for the production of polyurethane. It can also be sold directly as a product, and employed in the fields of coating, pesticides, lubricating, medicine, paper disposal agent, food additive, etc. So far the domestic anlydride production capacity is oversupply, but most of them belongs to backward craftsmanship without competitiveness. It is estimated that the demand for anlydride in 2005 will reach over 250,000 tons, so there is still great potential.

At present, there are 20 plus anhydride factories in China, with a total production capacity of 165,000 tons per year. The domestic factory still relies on benzene method, and the process is backward with a small production scale and high cost. This project plans to get the transferred technology from abroad, and carry out production with butane method, which has obvious cost advantage and strong market competitiveness.


100,000 ton/year Butoctanol (2-EH) Project

With the imported propylene material, it has planned to install the equipment that can produce 100,000 tons of butoctanol every year. The product can be used to produce DOP and DBP plastifier to support the processing of PVC. It can also be employed in the production of downstream flux and surfactant agent, etc.

The main construction of the project is to install butoctanol-producing facilities with a production of 100,000 tons per year, its auxiliary equipments and public utilities.

Over the past decade, the production and consumption of butoctanol increase steadily in the world. It is estimated that the annual grow rate will be 3.5% in next ten years. Butoctanol production scale in our country has always been small, and developed slowly. In 2000, the production was about 375,000 tons, and the degree of self-sufficiency was lower than 70% with the import further enlarging. It is estimated that the gap between domestic supply and demand will reach over 540,000 tons per year by the year of 2010, so there is great promise to carry out the butoctanol project.

The major domestic butoctanol manufacturers are Jihua Company, Daqing Petrochemical Company, Qilu Petrochemical Company, Beijing NO.4 Chemical Industrial Factory, etc. Most of them are located in the North, while there is no butoctanol manufacturers in Southeast China.

Xiamen's consumption market for PVC plastifier has constituted fairly large scale. The construction of PX Project will provide main materials for the production chain of PVC plastifier: o-xylene produces PA; liquefied petroleum gas or naphtha produces the synthetic gas which is required for the production of butoctanol; PA and octyl alcohol produce DOP and form the production chain of phthalates plastifier. This is conducive to the construction of world-wide scale equipments for PA, butoctanol and DOP. Advantage is shown in the technology and price.


100,000 ton/year SBS Project

With the imported ethylene and butadiene, it has planned to install the equipment that can produce 100,000 tons of SBS every year. The products are mainly used in shoes and bitumen. China's SBS industry has developed quickly in recent years, but the degree of self-sufficiency is still around 50%.

The main construction of the project is to install the SBS producing facilities with a production of 100,000 tons per year, its auxiliary equipments and public unitilies.

Fujian province has no SBS manufacturer, but thanks to the developed shoes manufacturing industry, there is a great demand of SBS. At present, most of the needed SBS is imported from Taiwan or other provinces, so market demand exists.

With imported and domestically provided light wax, it has planned to install the equipment that can produce 100,000 tons of LAB and 50,000 tons of LAS every year. The product is mainly used in synthetic detergent.

The main construction of the project is to install the LAB producing facilities with a production of 100,000 tons per year, the LAS producing facilities with a production of 50,000 tons per year, its auxiliary equipments and public utilities.

China's LAB concentrates in Nanjing with a producing capacity of 200,000 tons per year and Fushun in Liaoning Province with a producing capacity of 200,000 tons per year, both in the North. From the overall distribution, the consumption of detergent in the South China is very high and the supply of LAB is wanted.

LAB and LAS Project in Haicang makes use of benzene and sulphur, the by-product of PX Project, as materials. The by-product of hydrogen can also be used in PX Project. A great amount of hydrogen is needed in heavy arene hydrogen cracking. It is an ideal project that is ensured with raw material supply.


200,000 tons of VCM/PVC per year Project

The project is to import VCM monomer or EDC and a modest sum of ethylene, with which 200,000 tons of PVC will be produced. It will provide materials for companies like Nanya fittings and pipes, Wufeng pipes and Intex Plastics. There is a great market demand of PVC at present, e.g. in Xiamen city and its neighbourhood, 150,000 tons of PVC is needed every year.

The main construction of the project is to install the PVC producing facilities with a capacity of 200,000 tons per year, its auxiliary equipments and public utilities.

PVC production has been growing very rapidly in China, but it can't yet fulfill the domestic demands. China has to import a great deal of PVC resin every year and will import more in the future. Domestic production can only meet about 50%--60% of the market demand. The situation that China relies on PVC import is not expected to make a turn in the coming decade. Therefore, PVC resin has a large market in China.

The plastic processing ability and technology in Fujian Province play a leading role in China. The main PVC products are shoes, membranes, tubes, construction materials, etc. The production is about 300,000 tons per year. However, the production of PVC resin in Fujian Province is only 60,000 tons per year. A big market shortfall exists.

PVC production in Haicang Investment Zone doesn't start with chlorine alkali but with EDC or monomer imported from abroad, so the production cost can be controlled. The demand of PVC in Xiamen is 150,000 tons per year, thirsty for new PVC manufacturers. If you choose the mongline combination under the economic scale, i.e. to install facilities with a production of 100,000 or 200.000 tons per year, the PVC project will survive the market competition. Therefore, Xiamen City's development of producing PVC is based on the market demand according to the international managerial mode.

Together with the imported ethylene material, it has planned to install the equipment, which can produce 300,000 tons of SM and 200,000 tons of PS every year. PS is one of the five main synthetic resins, which can be widely used in household appliances, automobiles, packing, machine parts and so on. At present, there is a large market of PS in China. Every year, a great deal of it needs to be imported,

The main construction of the project is to install the producing facilities respectively with a capacity of 300,000 tons SM and 200,000 tons PS per year as well as their auxiliary equipments and public utilities.

China began to levy tax on PS in 1960. In recent years, the PS production has been developed rapidly. There have already been large companies producing PS, such as Zhenjiang Qimei Company, Shantou SOE First Polyester Films Co., Ltd, Yangzi-BASF Styrenics Co., Ltd etc. However, most of the PS producing companies only have minitype facilities with a production of 10,000 tons. Domestic production only meets 30% of the market demand, so it needs to import a large sum of PS resin every year and the volume has been greatly increased.


500,000 tons of EG per year Project

The chemical industry in Haicang has a plan to make PX project a leading role and build an integrated arene industry. Now, Xiang Lu Fibers (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. has put into polyester production 320,000 tons per year, besides Dingyang Special Resin Companys project to produce 360,000 tons per year is under construction. The above two projects need a huge supply of EG. The imported ethylene as a material for the EG producing facilities with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year can fully supply to the downstream PET production and to some related companies.

The construction of the project is to install the EG producing facilities with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year, its auxiliary equipments and public utilities.

At present, 400,000 tons of polyester is produced in Xiamen City and its neighbourhood. Together with the projects which are under construction or to be constructed, the polyester production will reach 800,000 tons per year. Until 2005, the market demand of EG in Fujian Province will be over 300,000 tons per year. There will be a large market of it.

China's Xianglu to up PTA capacity by 20% to 1.5-mil mt/yr Apr 06  翔鷺石油化学

China's Xiang Lu Petrochemical, the country's biggest PTA producer, is planning to debottleneck its plant by May next year, a source close to the company said Tuesday.
The firm was expected to add another 300,000 mt/yr of capacity at its plant, which will boost the
total capacity to 1.5-mil mt/yr, the source added. The unit purified terephthalic acid will be down for a period of one to three weeks during March/April 2006 although the company has yet to finalise details of the shutdown. Xiang Lu Petrochemical started up its 450,000 mt/yr PTA plant in 2003, and boosted capacity to 1.2-mil mt/yr by 2005.

Dragon Group gets final nod for aromatics project in Xiamen

Dragon Group(騰龍グループ) has got the final approval from government for its proposed large scale aromatics project in Haicang, Xiamen, Fujian Province. 福建省廈門の海滄投資区

With the total investment of USD 1.35 billion (RMB 10.8 billion), this project includes 800 000 tonne/year PX, 160 000 tonne/year OX, 228 000 tonne/year Benzene and other facilities which include thermoelectricity station, Jetty, and Storage Tanks、water treatment facilities and other utilities. (RMB 10.8 billion is re-confirmed)

This project will be operated as Dragon Aromatics (Xiamen) Co, a subsidiary of Dragon Group.
It is expected to start up in early 2009, feedstock of naphtha and vacuum gas oil will be imported from oversea market; and the PX product will supply to PTA plant of
Xiang Lu Petrochemical (翔鷺石油化学).

The Taiwan origin company - Dragon Group has invested 4 PTA/PET related companies. There are:
 PX - Dragon Aromatics (Xiamen) Co, also called Tenglong (騰龍) Aromatics in Chinese
 PTA - Xiang Lu Petrochemical
 PET Resin - Dragon Special Resin Company, also called Tenglong Special Resin in Chinese and
 Chemical Fibre - Xiang Lu Chemical Fibre company

*Dragon Special Resin operates a 158 400 tonne/year PET bottle-grade chips line, and a 39 600 tonne/year line that can produce either PET industrial-grade chips or bottle-grade chips.

Dragon also has a under construction 600 000 tonne PTA project in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province江蘇省江陰. Hailun Chemical is a 50:50 jv between Dragon and Sanfangxiang (三房巷) Group.

Dragon and Xianglu kick off aromatics and PTA construction in Xiamen

On 17 Nov., Dragon Aromatics and Xianglu Petrochemical kicked off aromatics and PTA project construction respectively at the same time at Haicang Chemical Industry Park, Xiamen, Fujian Province.

Dragon got
the final approval for the aromatics project in June 2006; while Xianglu got the final approval for this 1.5 million tonne/year PTA project in Oct 2006.

Dragon Aromatics invested USD 1.35 billion (RMB 10.8 billion) for this aromatics project, which includes 800 000 tonne/year PX, 160 000 tonne/year OX, 228 000 tonne/year Benzene and other facilities which include thermoelectricity station, Jetty, and Storage Tanks. The project is expected to start up in early 2009.

Xianglu invested USD 0.5 billion (RMB 4 billion) for the second PTA project, capacity of which is 1.5 million tonne/year. The new PTA project is expected to start up by the end of 2008. For Xianglu, this is its second phase PTA project; it is also operating
a 1.5 million tonne/year PTA plant in the same site. After the start-up, Xianglu will have total capacity of 3 million in Xiamen.

Dragon and Xianglu are related firms; the PX products will feed to the PTA project.
