アルミ地金　ロシア企業、世界最大に
　同国2位などをルスアル買収へ　米アルコアを抜く

　ロシア最大のアルミメーカーであるルスアルが同国２位のスアルと、スイスの商社グレンコアのアルミニウム部門を買収することで基本合意したことが明らかになった。買収規模は約３００億ドル(約３兆５千億円)になる見通し。アルミ地金生産量は３７５万トンとロシア国内生産を独占、米アルコア社を抜き世界最大のアルミ地金メーカーとなる。

RUSAL, the world’s third largest aluminium producer, SUAL Group, one of the world’s top ten aluminium producers, and Glencore International AG, the Swiss natural resources group announce today that they have signed an agreement to create the ‘United Company RUSAL'　ロシースキー・アルミニウム, by merging their respective aluminium and alumina assets.

The combined company will own bauxite mining, alumina refinery, aluminium smelting and foil production facilities. Under the terms of the share-for-share deal, EN+ as RUSAL's shareholder will own 66% of the new company, with SUAL's shareholders owning 22% and Glencore 12%, respectively.

　Glencoreは、スイスの貿易グループで、創立者のMarc Rich(ベルギー出身)らが、74年に設立した非上場企業である。Marc Richは、ニューヨーク大学を卒業後、Philipp Brothers(現在のTravellers Insuranceグループ系のPhibro)に入社、68年から74年に、スポット石油のトレーディングなどで巨額のボーナスを稼ぎ、それを元にGlencoreの前身のMarc Rich& Co.をスイスに設立した。80年代はイラン産原油取り引き、経済制裁下の南アとの貿易で、米国、英国と対立しながら利益をあげるなど、野心的経営が伝えられている。その後、90年に社名がGlencoreに改名され、93年から94年にかけてMarc Richが所有権を手放し、現在の姿となった。

　同社のビジネス範囲は、非鉄金属、鉄鋼、石油及び石油デリバティブ、石炭等の資源関係の他、電気、農産物(砂糖、米、穀物)等である。年商は、約300億ドル程度と推定されている。地下資源関係では、鉛、亜鉛、バナジウム、銅、ニッケル、アルミニウム、石油、鉄など鉱山開発にも進出している。

In 2005, SUAL Group and RUSAL signed an Agreement that will make them equal partners in the Komi Aluminium Project.

One of the most ambitious projects ever considered within the Russian aluminium industry is the Komi Aluminium Project.

SUAL Group and RUSAL jointly aims to create an internationally competitive, vertically integrated bauxite-alumina complex-? Komi Aluminium - near the city of Sosnogorsk in the Komi Republic 1,200 km north-east of Moscow. The project when realized will provide a 50 per cent increase in total Russian alumina production to 4.5 million tonnes.

The project involves the development, construction, and operation of a modern bauxite-alumina complex. This will use the extensive and accessible Timan Bauxite reserves 270 kilometres north-west of the proposed complex. The Middle Timan bauxite mine is already connected to the federal rail network by a 157 kilometre railway line recently built by SUAL. The mine has extensive reserves and is key to Komi Aluminium Project.

On 25 April 2005 SUAL Group and RUSAL signed an Agreement that made them equal partners in the Komi Aluminium Project.

アルミ工場と原発一体で　ロシアの最大手、極東に建設
　日本に協力要請へ　大半をアジアに輸出

　ロシア原子力庁と同国最大のアルミニウム会社ロシースキー・.アルミニウム（United Company RUSAL）は９日、ロシア極東にアルミ工場と原子力発電所を同時に新設することで合意した。アルミ工場と原発を一つの事業体として建設するのは世界初。安価な電力調達で競争力を高めるのが狙い。生産能力は年６０万トン以上となる見込みで大半を日本を含むアジア諸国に輸出する。ロシア側は日本に工場と原発建設で協力を求める。
　建設地は沿海州が有力で、年内に工場と原発建設に関する実地調査を終える。


ロシースキー・アルミニウム
　ロシア最大のアルミメーカー、ルサールと同２位のスアル、スイス商社グレンコアのアルミ部門が３月に合併して誕生した。年間生産能力はアルミ約４００万トン、アルミナ１１００万トンで、米アルコアを抜き世界最大のアルミ会社となった。売上高は約１２０億ドル(約１兆４千億円)、従業員は１０万人以上。原料であるボーキサイト採掘部門に加え、アルミナ精錬工場とアルミ工場など世界１７カ国で展開している。

Federal Nuclear Power Agency (ROSATOM) and United Company RUSAL reached agreement on joint implementation of a project in the Far East

Federal Nuclear Power Agency (ROSATOM) and United Company RUSAL, the word's largest aluminium and alumina producer, have signed a memorandum on the joint implementation of long-term investment projects. The signed document provides for the detailed exploration of opportunities to establish an energy and metals complex in the Far East comprising a nuclear power plant and an aluminium smelter.

The United Company RUSAL is the leader of the global aluminium industry that sells its products in 70 countries worldwide. The United Company RUSAL accounts for approximately 12.5% and 16% of global production of aluminium and alumina respectively. The company was founded in March 2007 through a merger of RUSAL, SUAL, and the alumina assets of Glencore. 100,000 people work for the United Company RUSAL in 17 countries and 5 continents.

ROSATOM (www.minatom.ru) is the Federal Nuclear Power Agency that was founded on 9 March, 2004 by order of the President of the Russian Federation # 314 About the system and the structure of federal executive authorities after the Nuclear Power Ministry of the Russian Federation was disbanded.

ROSATOM is a federal authority in the executive branch that works on enforcement of national policy, state regulation, public services, and state property control in such areas as nuclear power consumption, development and safety of nuclear power generation, nuclear weapons, nuclear fuel, atomic science and engineering, nuclear and radiation safety, non-proliferation of nuclear agents and technologies, and corresponding international relations.

UC RUSAL signs an investment agreement with Saratov region administration to build a major energy & metals complex

UC RUSAL, the world's largest producer of aluminium and alumina, is pleased to announce the signing of a cooperation agreement with the government of Russia's Saratov region for the construction of a major energy and metals complex. The complex will include a significant expansion of the Balakovsky nuclear power plant, with UC RUSAL building the 5th and 6th reactor blocks, generating 2,000 MW and the construction of the world's largest aluminium smelter, with an annual production capacity of 1,05 million tonnes.

The construction of the aluminium smelter and nuclear power station will be financed and implemented by UC RUSAL.  The overall budget will be defined on completion of a feasibility study, expected by the end of 2008.
